Alaska Helicopter Fly-Out Fishing

Fish for five species of Alaska Pacific salmon. Fly fish for rainbow trout, char, pike, and grayling. Fly out fishing by helicopter. Fifty miles from the nearest road, Talaheim Lodge is a fly in fishing lodge dedicated to fly fishermen; however, the lodge is well suited for novice spin anglers. Talaheim Lodge is an award winning Alaska fishing lodge and its owner and creator, Mark Miller, is a master fishing guide. Thirty- two years ago, Mark had a vision, and today, Talaheim Lodge stands among the best in Alaska. Talaheim Lodge is one of the only lodges in Alaska with its own helicopters for their guest’s exclusive use. Talaheim Lodge specializes in seeing that its fishermen have waters to themselves each day, like anglers expect coming to the “Last Frontier”.

Talaheim Lodge is located midway on the Talachulitna River just 85 air miles west of Anchorage in the foothills of the Alaskan Range.

Fish for an unbelievable week
Talaheim Lodge offers a varied seven day fishing adventure which includes fly outs by helicopter to very isolated waters rarely visited by other anglers, day floats, jet boating local waters, or a break from fishing with a landing on a glacier or mountain peak. Fish gin clear rivers and streams, most of which are “wadeable” – just perfect for fly fisherman – where salmon as well as large rainbow can be caught with fly or spinning rods. We have great on-site fishing…fish 15 miles of the Talachulitna from jet boats. We never have a weather day where we cannot get to great fishing.

Fish for eight species
Your trip takes you through rushing waters to peaceful, fish-filled pools where you can bait your hook to eight species including Pacific Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Grayling, and Dolly Varden.

To bait your hook…small groups, custom service
At Talaheim quality comes in small packages. Whether you are a family or a group of guys, you will be looked after with just the right amount of service to make your Alaska trip both comfortable and relaxing. We limit our anglers to just six to eight guests per week. By keeping our number of guests down, we ensure you personal service and a wilderness atmosphere.

Just a flight away
All trips originate from Anchorage. Four major airlines serve Anchorage from the “lower 48 states”. Trips begin at 7 am on Sunday mornings, so you should plan to arrive in Anchorage on Saturday evening, hotel it one night and then fly to the lodge the following morning. Only five working days missed!
